L. Cole Cemetery Location: Crossing the Little Nottoway River over what used to be called Jordens Bridge to the left is “Pleasant Hill” Cemetery. Nottoway County, Virginia DATE: August 16, 1829. OWNERS: Private cemetery. DESCRIPTION: The “Pleasant Hill” graveyard is the old Irby graveyard and it said that five generations are buried there. It is enclosed with a brick wall. The bricks in this wall were made at “Pleasant Hill” by William Blant Irby, and his slaves. Lots of graves have markers but there are just as many graves and perhaps more that do not have any. Irby born March 17, 1788 married to Edmond Irby February 19, 1806 died February 18, 1846 John L. Irby of Nottoway County born March 17, 1817 died April 25, 1847 In memory of Elizabeth Ann Bland daughter of William Bland and Sarah W. Irby born August 1, 1825 married to William R.
