Cole Cemetery Location: 2.5 miles north of Nottoway, Virginia on the Piney Green road, left on a little hill. Nottoway County, Virginia DATE: About 1833. OWNERS: (blank) DESCRIPTION: Located on a little hill, enclosed with iron fence. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: In memory of Sarah Campbell Daughter of Colonel Freeman Epes and wife of Dr. A. A. Campbell of Nottoway County. Born March 23, 1793 and died Nov. 26, 1833 She was twenty years a member of the Methodist Church, during which time her life was in strict conformity to the faith she possessed. And in death she calmly and peacefully committed her spirits Into the hands of God who gave it. And I heard a voice from heaven saying, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord, >From henceforth; Yea saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them. Jones born April 2, 1814 and died August 6, 1861 Sacred to the memory of Dr. John Patterson born November 24, 1800 died August 31, 1836 Archibald Campbell oldest son of Dr. John and Martha E. Patterson born December 15, 1835 and died September 29, 1845 Age 11 years and nine months Martha E. Patterson wife of Dr. John Patterson Mother of Archibald C. and Hamlin E. infants deceased and daughter of Archibald A. and Sarah Campbell was born September 3, 1812 died September 27, 1849 Catherine Frances Fitzgerald wife of George Fitzgerald and daughter of Archibald A. Campbell born July 22, 1817 died Sept. 24, 1838 Beloved for her virtues as wife, daughter, sister, mother, friend Admired for her dignity of men, and beauty of persons. Accomplished for earths duties christened for heaven She lived just long enough to prove that She left a world where all things fair must pass away. Blessed Redeemer who died Her spirit to save Who led the despoils, His captors set free. We yield up the fair and the good to the grave And fendly would decree it, an offering to Thee.
