NOTTOWAY COUNTY, VIRGINIA DEED BETWEEN COOK AND BLANKINSHIP This Indenture made the twenty sixth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Niney two between James Cook and Susanah his wife of the county of Nottoway of the one part and John Blankinship of the said County of the other part, witnesseth that the said John Cook and Susanah for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty one pounds current money, to them in hand paid by the said John Blankinship before the sealing and delivery hereof have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sells unto the said John Blankinship his heirs and assigns one certain tract of parcel of land containing one hundred and forth one acres more or less lying and being in the county of Nottoway and Amelia and bounded by the lands of William Baldwin, Daniel Jones and Covington Smith thence along a new line to William Baldwin to the Beginning with all houses, woods, waters, and appurtenances whatsoever to the said back of land and premises belonging or in any assertaining(?) and all the wright(?) snf title of them the said James Cook and Susanah and their heirs in or to the same. To have and to hold the said tract of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said John Blankinship his heirs forever and the said James for himself and his heirs, doth covenant and grant to and with the said John Blankinship his heirs and assigns against the title claim and demand of all and every person and persons, whatsoever, shall and will for ever defend by those present. In witness whereof the parties have here unto set their hands and affised their seals the day and year first above written. Mem(?) that as there is a dispute in a small corner of the within tract of land joining William Baldwin and Daniel Jones supposed to contain two and a half acres and if the said two and half acres should appear to belong to some other person that then the said Cook is to make payment to the said Blankinship at thirty shillings p acre and deduct it out of the written land This twenty sixth day of July 1792 James Cook At a court held for Nottoway County the 6th day of September 1792. This Indenture and Memorandum thereon endowed was acknowledged by James Cook the party thereto and Ordered be recorded. Test S. Holmes(? 299 This Indenture made the nineth day of December in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety two between John Blankinship of Nottoway County of the one part and George Scott of the other part Wittnesseth that the said John Blankinship for and in consideration of the sum of twenty shillings current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said George Scott the rceipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge have granted, bargained, sold , aliened ? and confirmed unto said George Scott his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing half an acre round a Spring formerly called Dixes Spring and joining the Land of the said George Scott on every side, situate lying & being in the county of Nottoway aforesaid on one of the branches of West Creek with all the Estate right right Little Interest claim and demand whatsoever of him the said John Blankinship unto the said land and premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and to hold the said land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said George Scott his heirs and assigns forever to the only peoples use and behoof of him the said George Scott his heirs and assign forever and the said John Blankinship for himself and his heirs forever the said land and premises will defend against the claim and demand of all and every other person or persons in witnesseths whereof the the said John Blankinshp have hereunto sot his hand and affirms his seal the day and year first above Written Sealed and Delivered in Presence of: his Wim Rogers John X Blankinship John Marshall mark At a court held for Nottoway County the 3rd day of January 1793....
