Teste Peter Randolph C C Truly Recorded Teste Thomas Waring = (The last part of the deed is too dark to read) Page 107 CHARLES ANDERSON submitted by Linda S chmehl The Commonwealth of Virginia to Gentm Justices of the county court of Mason in the State of Kentucky Greeting: Whereas Charles Anderson by his certain Indenture of bargain and sale bearing date the 27th day of October 1798 hath sold and conveyed unto Richard Broaddus the fee simple estate of and in four hundred and eighty six acres of land with the appertenances lying and being in the county of Nottoway and where as Lucy Anderson wife of the said Charles Anderson cannot conveniently travel to the court of the said county of Nottoway to make acknowledgement of the said conveyance, therefore we do give unto you or any two or more of you power to receive the acknowledgment which the said Lucy Anderson shall be willing to make before you of the conveyance aforesaid contained in the said indenture which is hereto annexed and we do therefore command you that you personally go to the said Lucy Anderson and receive her acknowledgment of the same and examine her privily and apart form the said Charles Anderson her husband, whether she doth the same freely and voluntarily without his persuasion or threats and whether she be willing that the same may be recorded in our said court and when you have received her acknowledgment and examined her as aforesaid that you distinctly and plainly certify us thereof in our said court under your hands and seals sending them these the said indenture and this writ witness Peter Randolph clerk of our said court the 14th day of December 1798 in the 23rd year of our foundation. Submittd by: Linda S chmehl This Indenture made and entered into this thirteenth day of July in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand eight hundred and two between Charles Anderson and Nancy his wife of the county of Nottoway of the one part and Woodlief Eppes, July Eppes and Travis Eppes, children & heirs of Francis Eppes, decd and Mary Eppes widow of the said Francis Eppes, decd of the other part witnesseth, that the said Charles Anderson and Nancy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and forty two pounds ten shillings to them in hand paid at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, by the said Woodlief Eppes, July Eppes and Thomas Eppes and the said Mary Eppes by the hands of John Royall administrator of the said Francis Eppes, decd the receipt whereof the said Charles Anderson and Nancy his wife do hereby acknowledge and forever ... and do ... the said Woodlief Eppes, July Eppes, Thomas Eppes and Mary Eppes from the payment thereof have given granted bargained and sold alein ... and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell alein ... and confirm unto the said Woodlief Eppes, July Eppes, Thomas Eppes and Mary Eppes all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county aforesaid containing by survey one hundred and ninety acres and lying on the waters of Tommy Litton creek and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at Moores corner pine in Riverses line thence along Moores line south 15 degrees West 118 1/2 poles to the corner in Jacksons line, thence along Jacksons line south 82 degrees East 73 poles to his corner, then along the said Jackson line south 53 degrees East 85 poles to his corner on a branch thence down the said branch as it meanders to the fork thence up the left fork thereof as it meanders to Ann Blands corner on the said creek on a new dividing line thence west up the said dividing line between the said tract and Ann Blands to a corner poplar on the branch thence north 30 poles to Rivers corner stone thence along his line north 74 1/4 degrees West 117 poles to the beginning together with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining.
