This Indenture made this twenty ninth day of October in the year of our Lord 
Christ one thousand eight hundred and one.  Between Miles Holt and Sarah his 
wife of Pittsylvania County (Virginia) of the one part and Susah Harper of 
Amelia County (Virginia) of the other part.  Witnesseth, that the said Miles 
Holt and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of forty five 
pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand paid before the sealing and 
delivering of these presents have given, granted, bargained, and sold and do 
by these presents give, grant, bargain and sell unto the said Susah Harper a 
certain Tract or parcel of Land containing by late survey Fifty seven and one 
eighth Acres be the same more of less and adjoining the lands of John Hurt 
Barbee Miller, Thos Wingo and Sarah Holt.  It being his part of the Lands 
formerly belonging to Shadrack Holt and To have and to hold the said Tract or 
parcel of Land unto her the said Susan Harper her heirs and assigns forever.  
And the said Miles Holt and Sarah his wife doth by these presents covenant, 
grant and agree to and with the said Susah Harper that they will forever 
hereafter warrant & Defend the right and Title of the said Tract or parcel of 
Land unto her the said Susah Harper her heirs and Assigns from the lawful 
claims or demands of every person or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof we 
have hereunto set our hands and Seals the day & year above written.

This deed Indented was proved by the oaths of William Harper, John Motley Jr

Sarah Holt wife of the within named Miles Holt came into Court and being 
privily examined and voluntarily assenting thereto relinquishes her right of 
dower in the land conveyed by this Indenture.
