Williams and Catharine J. V. Williams his wife parties of the first part and Joel B. Williams of the second part - Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and ninety five dollars cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Thomas W. Williams and Catharine J. V. his wife have granted bargained and sold and doth by these presents sell and convey unto Joel B. Williams with general warranty a certain piece or parcel of land lying in the County of Nottoway on the East side of the plantation of Joel B. Williams running parallel with his line as it now runs, containing thirty nine and one half acres and bounded on the other side by the western line of the said Thomas W. Williams. Witness the following signatures and seals this day and year first aforesaid--- Thomas W. Williams Seal Catharine J. V. Williams Seal State of Virginia Nottoway County Court We F. W. Epes and Wm. P. Dickinson Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do certify that Thomas W. Williams and Catharine J. V. Williams his -----whose names are signed to the riteing(sic) hereto annexed bearing date the 22nd day of July 1868 has acknowledged the same before us in our County aforesaid. And we do further certify that Catharine J. V. Williams wife of the said Thomas W. Williams whose name is likewise signed to the writing hereto annexed bearing date as aforesaid personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Catharine J. V. Williams acknowledged the said writing to be her act and declared that she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it -- Given under our hands this 24th July 1868--- F. W. Epes J. P. Wm. P. Dickinson J. P. Clerk's Office Nottoway County Court 2nd Sept. 1868 The foregoing deed from Thomas W. Williams and Catharine J. V. Williams his wife to Joel B.
