Williams and Helen Williams his wife of the first part, and Charles B. Hardy of the second part, both of the County of Nottoway and State of Virginia, Witnesseth: That for and in consideration of the sum of Eight Hundred dollars, cash in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the parties of the first part do hereby grant bargain , sell and convey with general warranty unto the party of the Second Part; one hundred and fifty acres of land, more or less , the same being sold in the gross & not by the acre, together with all the improvements & buildings on same-which said land is bounded as follows; on the North by the Falls Road, on the East by Cox’s Road, South & West by the land of T.W. Williams, it being the place known as Forkland, Witness the following signatures and Seals. J. B. Williams (Seal) H Williams (Seal) State of Virginia County of Nottoway} to wit: I W. H. Bridgeforth a Notary Public for the County aforesaid in the State aforesaid, do certify that J. B. Williams whose name is signed to the writing hereto annexed bearing date Octr. 30. 1882, has acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid, And I do further certify that Helen Willimas the wife of the said J. B. Williams whose name is likewise signed to the writing hereto annexed bearing date of Octr. 30. 1882 personally appeared before me in my County aforesaid, and being examined by me privily and apart from her husband and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her, she the said Helen Williams acknowledged the said writing to be her act & deed and declared that she had willingly executed the same and does not want to retract it.
