Will of Lucy Newman
In the name of God Amen, I Lucy Newman of the County of Nottoway do make and
ordain this to be my last Will & Testament in manner and for on following
v12; It is my desire that my man Slave Clavisson, Ussey and all their
increase be kept together and not divided till the lawful age or marriage of
one of my children at which time such child is to have her part alloted to
her, and in like manner when the next comes of lawful age or married and the
balance to the last child who may marry or come of age. It is my desire that
my household & kitchen furniture remain with my sister Mildred C. Wills(?).
Also my riding chair & the balance of my property not particularly mentioned
so long as my children lives with her for the convenience of expensing to
raise them and no division of it is to take place so long as they continue
to live with her but when either or all of them leaves her a division of the
same is to take place in kind between all my said children, each child to
keep her respective part with her where ever she may live- I wish my horse
sold and the money applied to the Immediate support of my children. I do
hereby appoint Samuel Morgan Esq. to this my only Will and Testament. In
witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of May
one thousand eight hundred & ten.

Lucy defendant this life in the County of Nottoway, having first truly made
& published her last Will & Testament which is of record in North Carolina
of said County a Copy of which is hereto annexed as a part of bill "A" not
ameng other.
**Her full name was Elizabeth "Lucy" Newman.
**Her children were;Elizabeth L. Newman, Phoebe T. Newman and Elvira Newman
who married Joseph Badger II.
