In the settlement of the Estate of Peter Mountague in 1759, who was murdered in Orange County in l745, there are entries for the years 1757, 1758 & 1759 to the following effect: "To 500 pins." Due to the shortage of coins in the early days of the Colony, pins were often substituted for coins to be sue as small change. The "pins" mentioned in this return probably were Elizabeth Mountague"s "pin money" or allowance for the year. William Brockman and Sarah Brockman, Orphans of John Brockman, deced., infants above the age of fourteen years, came into Court and chose Kelly Jennings their Guardian and it is ordered that said Jennings give bond and security in the Clerk's Office in the sum of thirty pounds for securing the Estate and indemni-fying the Court. Smith ca 1825, He was born in 1797 in Barren Co. Ky. Son of William and Rachel Latimore Smith James Duncan married Joyce Quisenberry, who was born 25 October 1777, dau of James and Jane Burrus Quisenberry. They were in Lincoln Co., Mo. in 1827 Elizabeth Duncan married Thomas Embree 24 Aug 1795 moved to Monroe Co. Mo. Nancy Duncan married Charles Daniel, Son of James and Elizabeth Mountague Daniel. She married 2nd Shastain G. Watkins, 2 July 1807 in Clark Co. Ky Polly (Mary) Stevens Duncan married Vivion Daniel born 2 April 1769 and died 3 August 1837 near Morning View, Campbell Co., Ky. They were married 19 March 1805 in Clark Co. Ky. He was the Son of Charles and Sarah Tate Daniel Charles C. Duncan Margaret Duncan died before 1818 John Duncan died young Anthony Duncan died young. Charles was the Son of Charles Mill (1682-1764) Children of Charles Mills and his Wife (possibly a Thompson) Ann Mills born 18 July 1742 and died 14 December 1710. She married Henry Tandy, who died 1 July 1809. Nathaniel Mills, born ca 1750 and died 27 December 1815. His Will was probated in Orange County 22 January 1816. He married Frances Thompson of Hanover County 22 October 1771. Frances was born ca 1751 and died 21 December 18156. She was the Dau of William and Margaret Thompson of Hanover County Mary Mills married William Quarles of Spotsylvania Co ca a1758. She died in 1778. He died in March 1796. William Quarles married 2d Frances Vivion, 3 September 1779, Dau of John and Jane Smith Vivion in Orange Co Charles Mills married Sarah ( ), he died in Hanover Co in October 1828, she died in 1831 Frances Mills married William Thompson in 1771. She died in Orange County 1 August 1844, Their Children -- Caleb Lindsay Brockman, born 1 July 1781 and died in 1814 Joshua Lindsay Brockman, born 1783 and died in Christian Co. Ky. unmarried Samuel Lindsay Brockman born 15 Novembver 1799 and died in Orange Co. in 1840. He married Frances Ann Graves, daughter of Clairborne and Sally Tandy Graves William Lindsay Brockman married Elizabeth Catherine Grave, daughter of Claiborne and Sally Tandy Graves 22 February 1821. He died in September 1862. Curtis Lindsay Brockman married 1st Nancy Quisenberry 28 October 1811, married 2d Sarah Elmore Daniel, Widow of James Daniel 27 July 1840. He died 12 July 1746. Elizabeth Brockman married first Charles B. Bronaugh 3 April 1810. They had one Child Ann Elizabeth Bronaugh who married William Underwood. Elizabeth Brockman Bronaugh married 2d Joseph Mason who died in Christian Co., Ky. Their Children were William B., Charles B. Mary Jane, Tandy B. and Elizabeth A. In Mr. Madison's Will, he said "I bequeath the said sum of money to be equally divided between all my nephews and nieces which shall at that time be living and in case of any of them being dead and leaving issue at the time living, then such issue shall take thepalce of its or their deceased parent." Dolly Madison tells the Court that there were thirty one such nephews and nieces. She says Mr. Madison had six brothers and sisters, Francis Madison, William Madison, Ambrose Madison, Nelly Hite, Sarah Macon and Frances Rose. Francis Madison's children were. Conway Madison now living in Alabama, Catlett Madison, Nelly Wood who died before Mr. Madison leaving six children of whom all died before Mr. Madison without issue except Margaret wife of ( ) Tappan and Joseph Wood (of Tennessee). Sam SSAntient@aol.com 1838 The following taken from loose papers in the Orange County Clerk's Office in a suit between Minor Rucker and others filed 4th October 1838 A Deposition of William Thornton was taken at the House of Abel Marley in the Town of Fayette in the County of Howard on the 24th August 1840. The Deposition of John B. White taken the same day notes that Reuben E. Gentry married his Sister, Elizabeth, dau of Joel and Franky White, the legal heirs and representatives of John Rucker of Orange County, Va. and the receipts of Richard, Joel W., Reuben Jr. William Gentry and Jane Ramy, were given to Minor Rucker; further states that John Crook married his Sister, Riney White, and not John Brtooks as described in Minor Rucker's Bill and that the receipts of Richard P. Crook and William W. Crook and Elizabeth Trice and John Trice, her Husband, was given by me to Minor Rucker, And further the Deponent knows those to be the heirs of Riney Crook, deced., who are the heirs of Joel and Franky White, deced., and further states that John Tooley married his Sister, Phebe White and James Tooley married his Sister, Nancy White, both Daughters of Joel and Franky White. The deponent says that both James and Nancy are dead and that John Tooley was appointed and is Guardian for his own Children as well as those of James and Nancy Tooley. Mary Grave, Widow of Waller Graves, deced. and the heirs of Willia Rucker, deced., Defts. In the suit Minor Rucker is the Son of Joel Rucker, and Grandson of John Rucker. The Children of John Rucker and Mary his Wife are shown as Joel, Franky, Milly, William, Jeremiah, James, John, Mary, Milly, Nancy and Burton In the suit, Minor Rucker state the Childrfen of Joel Rucker were himself, Blyfil and Elzy who survived his Father but has since died, leaving a Widow, Mary Rucker and their Children Joseph and Edward Rucker, and Kitty, who married James Tompkins. All the heirs of Elzy Rucker live outside Virginia Will continue this suit another day. Burrus, Sheriff and Administrator and Elliott Jones left as his heirs entitled to the inheritance of the real estate his Widow, Elizabeth, who has since intermarried with William Sims, and nine children, vizt. Elizabeth who intermarried with John Farneyhough, Sarah who intermarried with Ezekial Herndon, Elvaline who intermarried with Zachariah Garton, Jane who intermarried with Henry B.
