We have seen and read a portion of the MS. It covers more than a hundred pages of foolscap, reiterates the assertion that Miss Lumsden committed suicide, and is made up mainly of accounts of love-scrapes with various females, trivial personal reminiscences of business with sundry individuals, together with his career during the war and copious pious ejaculations, warnings and moral lessons addressed to the reader. It throws no light on the dark and horrible crime with which he is charges. Edgar A. Poe would revel in this mysterious tale, and, with his fine powers of analysis, night possibly unravel it.
