Submitted by Steve Jones ====================================================================== In the name of God amen I Hugh Jones of Orange County being through the mercy of the Almighty tho weak in body yet of a sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute and order this my last will and testament and do desire it may be received by all as such. Imprimis I give to my beloved son George Jones one shilling sterling. Item I give to my beloved son Hugh Jones one shilling sterling. Item I give to my beloved son Morton Jones one shilling sterling. Item I give to my beloved son Benjamin Jones one shilling sterling. Item I give to my beloved daughter Frances Foster one shilling sterling. Item I give to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Jones one shilling sterling. Item I lend unto my beloved wife Catey Jones my whole estate during her natural life or widowhood. Item and after her death or marriage my whole estate is to return to my beloved son Catlett Jones with all its improvements unto him and his forever except fifty acres of the land I now live on and the said fifty acres to be of equal value to any fifty acres in the tract the said land and its value to be paid by my son Catlett Jones to my grandson Joseph Jones son of Elizabeth Jones and if he should die without a lawful heir the above mentioned fifty acres of land or its value to return to my son Catlett Jones or his heirs. Item I constitute and appoint my beloved son Catlett Jones and my friend William Morton my executors of this my last will and testament revoking all wills heretofore by me made ratifying and confirming this to be my only will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight. Hugh Jones Signed sealed and acknowledged in presence of Urial Mallory ____ [Jere?] Morton William Mallory At a court held for Orange County on Monday the 24th of October 1791 this last will and testament of Hugh Jones dec'd was presented into court by Catlett Jones and William Morton exec's herein named and proved by the oaths of Urial Mallory and William Mallory two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded under the motion of the said exec's who made oath according to law certificate is granted them for obtaining probate thereof in due form whereupon they with Urial Mallory their securities entered into and acknowledged their bond for the same in the sum of L500.
