Will of John LEE Orange County, VA 1789 In the name of God comes John Lee now of Orange County and State of Virginia, being at present of sound mind and disposing memory do make, constitute and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following ___ ___ I recommend my soul to Almighty God hoping for the ___ of all my Sins through the merits of my savior Jesus Christ and as to what worldly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with I give as dispose of as follows the items. Whereas I have left unto my godson John Graham, the son of John and Elizabeth Graham of Prince William County, one negro woman named Charity and her increase for his use and during his natural life only. But in case that John Graham should have heirs lawfully begotten who shall live to the age of Twenty-one years or marry then in that case I give those, negro woman Charity and her increase which she now hath or hereafter may have to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever who shall live to the age of twenty one years or marry as aforesaid but in case this John Graham should die without any such heirs lawfully begotten who should live to the age of Twenty one years or marry then my will is that the said negro woman Chastity and all her increase shall go to my dear Nephew John Lee (the son of my brother Hancock Lee, dec.). And his heirs lawfully begotten forever. Item whereas I have heretofore given to Amelia McRae the daughter of the late Allan McRae a Negro girl ___ ___ I do hereby ___ the said gift to her forever. And I do also hereby ___ and confirm the gift of Shadrack, a Negro man, which I have heretofore given to John McRae, son of the aforesaid Allan McRae dec. And Whereas I have heretofore given to my god daughter Agatha Eustice, the daughter of Mr. Isaac Eustace a negro girl named Agga -- I do hereby ___ the ___ gift forever. Item. I give and ___ to my beloved Nephew John Lee, son of my aforesaid brother Hancock Lee deceased, to him and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever all the residue and remainder of my Estate real and personal of what kind soever found but in case my Nephew John Lee should die without having such heirs of his body lawfully begotten then my will and desire is that all my Estate both real and personal before bequeathed unto him be at his decease equally divided amongst my Nephews and Nieces (the sons of my brother Hancock) to them and their heirs forever but before such division be made and in order to put my Nephews Henry Lee and Richard Lee (the sons of my said Brother Hancock Lee) on equal footing with my Brother Nephew Hancock Lee and my Two Nieces, Sarah Alexander Gellison and Mary Willis Madison, the son and daughters of my said Brother Hancock Lee deceased to whom I have already given each of them a negro gurl apiece my will and desire is a negro child not exceeding the age of ___years if any such are to be found amongst those heretofore given to each of my said Nephews Henry Lee and Richard Lee and then an equal Division of the remainder to be made Between them and ___ ___ brother and sisters. Lastly I nominate and appoint my Loving Nephew John Lee, my sole and only Executor of this my last Will and I desire that my estate may not be appraised. And I do hereby ___ ___ all former Wills, by me made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.
