PAGE COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Comer Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Comer graveyard: 1936 Nov. 30 Research made by Cannie C. Morris Cemetery Location: 1.5 miles northeast of Grove Hill, Virginia, east of Route #258 in Steam Hollow. Page County, Virginia DATE: Unknown. OWNERS: The present owner is Ben Strickler. (1936) DESCRIPTION: This is a public graveyard in good condition. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The Comer graveyard is very old, but we don’t know how old. We do know that there is a large generation of Comers and that most all of them in Page County raised large families, and that the older Comers were buried here. John Comer, father of Jacob Comer, Sr., and grandfather of Jacob Comer, Jr., was buried here, and several of the older Comers were buried here. Jacob Comer, Sr., raised a family of 21 children, which we think is a very large family. SOURCES OF INFORMATION: Informant: J. N. Comer, son of Jacob Comer, Sr., Grove Hill, Virginia. Visit by worker. ___________________________________________________________________ Copyright.
