PAGE COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Foltz Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Foltz graveyard: 1936 Nov. 28 Research made by Cannie C. Morris Cemetery Location: 5 miles north of Shenandoah, Virginia, .5 mile north of Brick Church east of Route #12. Page County, Virginia DATE: 1802, date of oldest inscription. OWNERS: The present owner is K. A. Strole. (1936) DESCRIPTION: It is a privately owned burying ground in very good condition. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Here we find a very old graveyard. The older graves, we presume, are of people that came from Germany, from the inscriptions on some of the stones. We find that all names change from time to time, as the Mullers were changed to Millers, so we find in this old graveyard the name of Hofminnen, which we presume from the name is now Hoffman. We also find one old stone that is very poorly carved. There are several old graves that have no inscriptions on them, and only limestone rocks for markers. This graveyard is still being used by some of the Foltzs and Kites. MABORNHAN HOFMINNEN 1819 EMHERN ENGSHIRHN May 1819 H. H. 72 G csfoiDEN Dien. 8 Joly 1802 SOURCES OF INFORMATION: Informants: K. A.
