PAGE COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – George Keyser Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, George Keyser graveyard: 1936 Oct. 27 Research made by Vivian Black Cemetery Location: On the south side of County Route #660, about two miles west of Route #12, on the west side of the Shenandoah River. Page County, Virginia DATE: 1842, date of oldest inscription. OWNERS: Major Andrew Keyser; next, his son, George Keyser. The present owner is Rumsie Sedwick. (1936) DESCRIPTION: It is in a field and is surrounded by a rock fence. It is private and in fair condition. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: George Keyser who was born Oct. 3rd 1789 and died May 17th 1859 aged 69 years 7 months and 7 days He was a member of the Big Spring Baptist Church for 31 years and professes to have hope for the pardon of his sins 5 years before he joined the church during which time he had an ord_____th and left this world with full confidence of meeting his Savior in the realness of bliss. In Memory of Rachel Bell Who was born Feb. 7th 1811 & died Jan. the 3 1864 Sacred to the memory of John Wm. Bell one who departed this life the 26 June 1842 Aged 28 days Sacred to the Memory of Esther Keyser who departed this life March 29 1846 after a long confinement on the bed of affliction eight years with a cancer on her breast which she bore with great fortitude and left this world at the age of 55 years 1 month and 13 days. This tombstone is erected by her affectionate husband. Geo. Keyser John Wm. Bell was killed by two of his slaves that were given to his wife by her father. His son, James, is also buried here; he committed suicide after the war.
