PAGE COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Abraham Strickler Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Abraham Strickler graveyard: 1936 Nov. 25 Research made by Vivian Black Cemetery Location: On the southwest hill above the White House Bridge, several hundred yards from U.S. Route #211. Page County, Virginia DATE: 1828, date of oldest inscription. OWNERS: The present owner is Mrs. Fannie Lam. (1936) DESCRIPTION: This is a privately owned graveyard and is in an open field with no fence around it. Many of the stones have been knocked down by cattle. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Abraham Strickler, son of Isaac Strickler of Egypt in Massanutten, was born about 1765, and is believed to be buried here. We know that he owned and lived in the old log house just above the graveyard. His son, Abraham, Jr., is buried here. This branch of Stricklers descends from Abraham Strickler, the pioneer Strickler, who came to Virginia about 1726-1730 and purchased 1000 acres from Jacob Stover. Quite a few people were buried here. Most of the stones are round sandstones with no names or dates. David Strickler Died June 23rd 1839 Aged 82 years & 8 mo. ______ Brubaker 1826 Elizabeth Strickler died Sept. 11th 1857 Aged 69 Yrs. & 5 Mos. In Memory of Morgan Mock who departed this life Sept. 1st 1853 Aged 16 Y. 2 M. & 21 D. In Memory of Ann Slusher who was born March 1st 1813 died June 13th 1838 Aged 25 Years 3 Months and 12 days.
