Wilkins - sfw1717@aol.com ************************************************************************ Will Book# 14 Pages 177-178 WILL ANGUS JONES, DEC'D I, Angus Jones, of Shenandoah, Virginia, being of sound and disposing mind, do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking all wills by me at any time heretofore made. First: I desire all my just debts to be paid out of my estate. Second: I direct that all the real estate of which I may die seized and possessed shall remain in tact unless it shall be necessary to make sale of a portion of it to pay any debts I may owe at my death; and there are no funds on hand to pay said debts Third: To my grandson Harold Slater I devise all real estate of which I may die seized and possessed, subject to the above clause, and the same is to be held in trust for him until he becomes twenty one years of age, provided he is allowed to stay with me as long as I live. Fourth: I direct that all my personal property shall be sold at my death provided I do not leave a widow, and the proceeds of sale shall go towards payment of any debts I may owe at my death. Fifth: In case I leave a widow at my death I desire that she and my grandson Harold Slater shall live here together during her lifetime and after her death my executor and trustee shall rent the property and the proceeds therefrom shall be applied to the payments of taxes, insurance and repairs, and all remaining shall be used for the support of my said grandson during his minority. Sixth: Some of the debts I owe have been standing for sometime and I direct that they shall be paid first in order after funeral expenses are paid and in case it shall be necessary to make sale of the same and he shall have authority to make a deed for same. Seventh: I desire that my niece Lucy Edmunds shall see that Harold has a place to stay until he is old enough to look out for himself. Eighth: I hereby appoint H. C. Bickers executor and trustee of my last will and testament and he shall be paid according to law for all services he performs and shall give his personal bond for the performance of this trust. Signed this 30th day of September 1930 as my last will and testament in the presence of the witnesses whose names are signed below and who sign at my request and in my presence. Reid In the Clerk's Office of Page Circuit Court, Jan 5, 1933 The last Will and Testament of Angus Jones, deceased was presented to the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Page County, Virginia and proven by the oaths of C. H. Lowe and H. B. Reid the subscribing witnesses to the will and the said will was admitted to probate in due form. H. C. Bickers, the Executor named in the said Will entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $2000.00, together with the Fidelity and Deposit Company of Md., by Julian S. Price, its attorney-in-fact of record, his surety, who justified as to its sufficiency, and the said H. C. Bickers duly qualified as such executor of the estate of Angus Jones, deceased by taking the oath prescribed by law. It is further ordered that C. H. Lowe, H. B. Reid, J. H. Moore and J. H. Best or any three of them after being duly sworn for the purpose do truly and justly appraise such of the goods and chattels of the said Angus Jones deceased, as may be produced before them and return their appraisement under their hands as the law directs. The tax on the estate has been duly paid to the Clerk on an amount of $1500.00 being an amount ascertained and reported to the Clerk as the valuation of said estate. Teste:- Grover C.
