Turn onto Union Bridge Road which winds around behind Fairy Stone Lake. You will go several miles and Heidelbach School Road turns to the left. Go just past that intersection and you will see a pair of Century Link circuit breaker boxes in the woods on the right. The driveway turns down an embankment just past those boxes. Follow that driveway into the hollow and you will see the cemetery on the left. In 1927, Dave "Davie" Cox and Maynard Cox along with Turner Hall were killed in a shootout involving rival bootlegging families. Hall and three other men had an arrest warrant for the two Cox men that had been issued. Hall along with two members of the Cox family were killed and two others were injured by gunfire. The other three were arrested for murder. This incident was called The Fayerdale Tragedy and it spawned a book called "The Fayerdale Tragedy Fairy Stone State Park" that was written by Elmer Haynes. The funeral of the Cox boys was also mentioned in "The Calendar Record of Events 1909-1959 of James Goode Lane Hash, a prominent Primitive Baptist ministery during this era in Patrick County, Virginia.
