There are also some graves with no markers in this cemetery. Directions to cemetery: From Bassett, Va follow Hwy 57 west about 10 to 12 miles, turn right onto 346(Fairystone Lake Rd), go about 1/2 mi, turn left on 623(Union Bridge Rd) go 3 1/2 mi, turn right on 624(Union Church Rd) go 1/2 mi, turn right on 713(Will Spencer Rd) then 1/2 mi, turn down a dirt path called Thacker Rd, go a short distance, you come to a large clearing, at the end of the clearing, the cemetery is located on left hand side Patrick County, VA GIS Parcel 5318-49 Owner Name & Address HANNCOCK CEMETERY Lot Information Acres: 1.00 Last Name First Name Middle Name Birth Death Comment ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hancock Albert April 27, 1903 October 13, 1931 Hancock Daniel February 16, 1913 August 6, 1951 Killed in an automobile accident Hancock Dora Elizabeth September 4, 1909 December 11, 1909 Hancock George Washington April 25, 1908 September 24, 1980 He died of cancer and possibly liver cancer. Hancock Katie Josephine Ferguson January 7, 1900 August 28, 1927 She died due to typhoid fever. Hancock Lillian C April 14, 1920 May 3, 1921 Hancock Sarah Jane Foster June 5, 1870 July 20, 1954 Hancock Serena Evalyn Pierson May 2, 1902 November 3, 1932 He was killed by her husband in a murder/suicide. Hancock Talford Robert November 4, 1905 April 12, 1925 Killed in an automobile accident in Martinsville, VA. Hancock Talford Warren March 13, 1861 June 24, 1920 He died of cancer of the face. Hancock William Posey October 28, 1895 November 3, 1932 He killed himself in a murder/suicide of his wife Serena. Additional Comments: This cemetery is accessible by vehicle but once you turn onto Will Spencer Road that will turn into dirt. Thacker Road is not even state maintained but people live on that road so it is well kept.
