On the motion of William Mitchell Gent. Sherif, William Lindsay is admitted his Deputy whereupon he Qualified according to Law. A Deed from James Taylor, to William Smith Senr., George Carter, John Medley Senr., James Taylor, Joseph Cummings & David Taylor, Acknowledged & Ordered to be recorded. John Tuggle is appointed Surveyor of the Road from George Mabrays to the Top of the Mountain, in the Room of George Mabray Senr. and the list filed be his Gang. James Denney is Appointed Surveyor of the Road from the forks of the Road below the Widow Lackeys, to George Mabrays, in the Room of George Mabray, & the list filed be his Gang. An Account Current of John Parr Junr. Administrator of Henry Parr, Deceased, returned and Ordered to be recorded. David McGown is Discontinued as Surveyor of the Road, & Jacob Johnson, Continued with his former Gang. James Lyon Genl. is appointed County Treasurer. William Banks, Samuel Clark, William Carter, & James Lyon are appd. to View a way for a Road from the East end of the Lower Cross Street, into the Road that leads by Eliphaz Sheltons, and make Report thereof to this Court. A Report of a View and to alter the uper Cross Street, also, to extend those Streets that were not already extended, returned & O. R. A Report of a View of a Road from the East end of the lower Cross Street into the Road that leads by Eliphaz Sheltons, returned and O.R. Ordered that John Sharp and his Gang to Clear a Road from the Main Street, to the outside of the Town, and from thence into the Road that leads by Eliphaz Shelton,s so as to Strike the said Road, 20 yards below a kind of Puncheon Bridge, about 120 yards from the east end of the said Street -- According to Law. Ordered that Charles Ferrell do call on Humphrey Smith & James Potteet Junr. and their hands -- to Clear and Open the Road from Corns Road near Harbers Shop, into the New Road that leads from Barlett Foleys to Daniel Rosses, at Samuel Noe,s Plantation, according to law. A Report of a view of a Road from Patrick Court, to John Nunn,s Returned and O.R. Edward Tatum a Commissioner of this County is allowed sixty seven Days for his services in taking in the lists of Taxable propty. for the year 1792, which were Ordered to be Certified to the Auditor of Publick Accots. AUGUST COURT (13 August 1792) Augustine Thomas foreman, William McAlexander, William Sharp, Henry McGuffey, John Henderson, Jacob Adams Senr. William Smith Senr. Isaac Adams, Haman France, James Taylor, George Penn, William Webb, Samuel Perry, James Poteet Junr William Handcock, Samuel Kennon, Mumford Smith & William Griffin were Sworn a Grand Jury of Inquest for the Body of this County. Whereupon they with Drew to Consult on those Presentiments. (14 August 1792) Willis v Sharp. The Deft. came into Court and Confessed Judgmt. According to Specialty & Costs. Stay exon. till Christmass. On the Motion of Eliphaz Shelton Complaining of the Road Runing from this Court Courthouse into the Road near Shadrack Barretts & Wherefore it is considered by the Court that a Writ of Adquodamum Issue. DECEMBER COURT (10 December 1792) Edward Tatum is appd. Surveyor of the Road in the Room of Woody Burge & the list filed to be his Gang. George Mabray Junr. is Appd. Surveyor of the Road from Francis Turners, to the Mountain in the Room of Richard Pilson & the list filed be his Gang. Adam Turner is appointed Surveyor of the Road from Francis Turners to Foleys in the Room of Richard Pilson & the list filed be his Gang. Eliphaz Shelton is appd. Surveyor of the Road from this Courthouse into Carters Road near the Woolf Pitts. & It is Ordered that he with his hands & Boarders Keep the same in repair according to Law. (Transcribed by Mary C.
