George Carter, Eliphaz Shelton, Harvey Fitzgarrald, & Robert Hall or any 3 of them are appd. to appraise the said Estate and make Report thereof to the Court. MARCH COURT (27 March 1794) Eliphaz Shelton, Harvey FitzGarrald Samuel Staples & Gabriel Penn or any 3 of them are appd. to View a way for a Road out of the Bull Mountain Rd to Patrick Courthouse and make report thereof to the next Court. William Burnett is appointed Surveyor of the Road from Francis Turners to Matthew Morrows in the Place of George Maberry Junr. and the list filed be his Gang. James Taylor is apointed Surveyor of the Road from the Mayos at Penns lane to the said James Taylor's in the Place of John Pulliam and the lists filed be his Gang. Surveyor of the Road from the Banks of the Mayo at the Mouth of Penns lane to James Taylors in the Place of the said James Taylor & the list filed be his Gang. Josiah Farris, foreman, George Rogers Sn. John Sharp John Crum, Peter France, Miller Easley, William Ison, John Burnett Nathanel N. Hilton, Richard Davison William Gray, Augustine Thomas Jacob Adams Sr. George Rogers Jr James Ferrell & William Deal were Swn. a Grand Jury. (26 April 1794) Tanner v Rowan a Jury Sworn to wit William J. Mayo, John Sharp, Noah Parr, William Keaton, Robert Litrell, Joseph H. Duvall, Charles Sutton, Woodey Burge, Eliphaz Shelton, Robert Sharp, John Tatum & Charles Vest. Verdict retd. for the Pltf. for £2.5.0 & O.R. MAY COURT (29 May 1794) Stephen Lyon also Qualified as Major of the first Batalion. Jesse Corn, John Poteet, Jacob Critz, & John Parr, also Qualified as Captains of the Militia. William Sharp, James Turner & George Lackey also Qualified as Lieutenants. John Hays Ensign Ensign of the first Batalion of Militia of this County. AUGUST COURT (28 August 1794) William Nowling is appd. Surveyor of the Road from Jacob Adams Jr. to the South Mayo in the Place of Lot Litrell and the list filed be his Gang. John Norton is allowed 2 days attendc. & Levies coming & returning 28 Miles as a Witness for Benjamin Philpot adv. William Cokaran. Smith v Poteet, the parties appeared in Court and Mutually agreed to leave all Matters of Dispute between them in this Court Depending to the Determination of David Morgan James Bartlett & William Sharp or any 2 of them and in case they Disagree to Choose an Umphir & his or their Award to be the Judgment of the Court. Archelaus Hughes Jr. Qualified as Deputy Surveyor for this County. SEPTEMBER COURT (25 September 1794) Harvey Fitzgarrald is appointed Surveyor of the Road from the Top of the Bull Mountain to this Courthouse in the Place of George Stults and the list filed be his Gang. Ordered that Eliphaz Shelton with his list of hands do call on George Fulchers hands & Harvey Fitzgarralds & his list of Hands & that they do Clear and Open a Road View from out of the Bull Mountain Road to this Courthouse according to law & then to return again to their respective Roads again. (26 September 1794) Charles Foster, John Koger, William Sharp & William Fuson or any 3 of them are appointed to lay of and alot to, Barbu ry Foley Widow & Relict of Bartholomew Foley Deceased, one third Part of the lands he Died Seized of and Make Report thereof to the Court. OCTOBER COURT (30 October 1794) On the Motion of Eliphaz Shelton leave is Granted him to build a Water Grist Mill & Saw Mill on the South Mayo, he being Owner on Both sides. Commissioners to lay of and Divide the land Mentioned in the Complainants Bill, according to the Poayer thereof and make report thereof to the Court.
