Also the Dedimus of the Relinquishment of his wife Nancy Moles dower to the same was returned & ordered to be recorded. Archibald Stovall quallifyed as Deputy Sheriff in this County agreeable to law. Richard Nowlin Presented to the court a commision from the Governor of this Comwealth appointing him a Leutenant in the militia of this county and quallyfied to the same agreeable to law. Banks Sr. -- Gentlemen Justices of the Court A Deed of Trust from Archibald Shelton & Harvey Fitzgerald the Trustee ch? to Samuel Staples Proved & ordered to be recorded. A Deed from John Lee to Claiborne Shelton Proved & ordered to be recorded. Also the same to the same the same. Present: William Carter, Gabriel Penn, Geo. Penn, Thomas Penn, Abraham Penn, Richard Thomas, Charles Foster, Robert Sharp, John Tatum, William Banks, Adam Turner, Elijah Banks & Greensville Penn -- Gent. Justices of the Peace A Dedimus for the Privy examination of Polly Critz Wife Jacob Critz on a Deed from the said Jacob Critz to Greensville Penn retd. & O. R. Jerman Baker, William Sneed, Lewis Foster, Charles Thomas Sr., Thomas Reives, Norman Staples, Phillip Penn, George S. Clark, Harvey Fitzgerald, Samuel Hanby, William Gaines, John Cardwell & Andrew Joyce Gent. are recommended to the Executive as fit & proper Persons to serve as Justices of the Peace for the sd. County. Gabriel & Greensville Penn on the motion of Britt Stovall Gent. Shf. of this County are Admitted deputy Shfs. Whereupon they took the Oath of Deputy Sherifs. A Deed of Trust Frederick Shelton to Saml Staples provd. by 1 Witn. & O.R. MARCH COURT (25 March 1813) Charles Thomas Sr., Thomas Hall, Adam Turner & Hugh Boyd or any 3 of them are appointed to appraise the sd. estate of Wm. Perkins decd. & make report thereof the court. Augustine Jones presented to the Court a Commission from under the seal of the Governor of this State appointing him Ensign of a Company of riflemen in the 18th Regiment & quallyfied for the same according to law. George Carter Jr. presented also a Commision appointing him a Luetenant in the said Rifle Company & quallyfied according to Law. William Banks Sr. was quallified as a Commisioner of the Revenue & gave Bond and security accordingly. George Penn is appointed to superintend the election of Overseers of the Poor at Greensville Penns on the third Friday in April, John Hall at Wm. Fusons on the same day, at Major Carters the same day & himself as superinten.... A Release from Claiborne Shelton & Samuel Staples to Frederick Shelton was acknowledged in court & ordered to be recorded. Samuel Staples, Robert Sharp, John Tatum, Harvey Fitzgerald & Wm. Banks are appointed Commisioners to superintend the Building of the county Jail. JULY COURT (29 July 1813) Parmer v Harris a Jury sworn to Wit, Elish Collings, John Martindelle, John Burnett, William Burnett, John Koger, Harvy Fitzgerald, Thomas Sharp, William Penn, John C. Parrish, George Carter, Abraham Carter, & William Martindille Verdict for the Plaintiff for seventy two dollars forty cents Damages. Ordered that the Overseers of the Poor do bind out Susannah Turner aged 14 years 3d of April last, Polley Turner aged 8 years 1st of May, Salley Turner aged 5 years 24th of September & Malindy Turner aged 2 years 17th of September last, agreeable to Law. AUGUST COURT (26 August 1813) Present: Munford Smith, Richard Thomas, Adam Turner, Robert Sharp & John Hall -- Gentlemen Justices of the Court A Dedimus from Elizabeth Woodrough to John Frans Jr. returned and ordered to be recorded. Phillip Penn, William Sneed, John Cardwell & Samul Hanby Jr each quallifyed to their Commisions appointing them Justices of the Peace in & for the said County of Patrick agreeable to the Law in that case. OCTOBER COURT (29 October 1813) James Taylor is Continued Constable in his former bounds who took the oath of Constable and with Samuel Hanby & Robert Sharp his Securities entd. into Bond & Ackd. the same. Alexander Joyce one of the Gentlemen Named in the New Commission of the Peace came into Court and took the Usual Oaths to Government, the Oath against Dueling, the Oath of a Justice of the Peace and a Justice in Chancery.
