PATRICK COUNTY, VA - DEEDS - Jefferson Taylor and Thomas Dehart to Daniel and Susan Booth, 23 Jan 1837 ----¤¤¤---- Patrick County Virginia Deeds ? Book 11, Page 318 22 January 1837 This indenture made the 22nd day of January 1837 between Daniel Booth, Susannah Booth which was formerly Susannah Hubbard of Patrick County and the State of Virginia the one part and Jefferson Taylor and Thomas Dehart of the same County and State of the other part witness that whereas the said Booth and his wife stand justly indebted to the said Thomas Dehart in the sum of one hundred and five dollars by note payable 25th day of December next and Booth and wife being desirous to make good and secure this payment of the said sum of money by the time aforesaid and have legal title to one _________ part of four negros Lucy, Clark, Booker and Roday now for the purpose aforesaid and more especially for the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these present doth grant bargain and sell and deliver unto the said Jefferson Taylor the third part of negro Lucy and her three children to have and to hold the same against the claim and demands of all and every other person or persons whatever. In trust nevertheless that if the said Booth and his wife shall pay the said Thomas Dehart the amount of said bond by the time aforesaid agreeable to the time there then the said Taylor doth oblige himself _____ to coming back to the said Booth and his wife or their then the title hereby vested in them the above named negros. If he shall fail to pay the said sum of money by the time aforesaid then J. Taylor doth oblige himself whenever _____ requested by the said Dehart to sell the then part of the said negros for the best price that can be had in ready money previously advertising the time and place of sale at some public place in the neighborhood list 10 days ? noted and out of the proceeds thereof first pay the said Dehart the said sum of money with legal interest title paid and the cost of recording and executing the deed and the surplus of any pay back to the said Booth and his wife or those legal representatives. The testimony where of the said Booth and wife and Jefferson Taylor have unto here set their hands and affixed their seals this day and year written.
