This Indenture Made the 11th day of Feb in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and four Between Ann Smallman, Grief Smallman, John Smallman, Elias Bryant and Susannah his Wife, Moses Godard and Jane his Wife, Moses Walden and Mary his Wife and James Hollandsworth and Ann his Wife all of the County of Patrick, of the one Part and Joseph Cummings of the said County of the other Part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds current money of Virginia in hand paid by the said Joseph Cummings the receipt thereof the said Ann Smallman, Grief Smallman, John Smallman, Elias Bryant and Susannah his Wife, Moses Walden and Mary his Wife, Moses Godard and Jane his Wife, and James Hollandsworth and Ann his Wife doth hereby acknowledge hath granted Bargained Sold Aliend enfeof and confirm unto the said Joseph Cummings his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of Sand lying on the Waters of Bowen Creek, and being part of a survey of two Hundred and fifty nine acres granted to John Smallman by patent bearing sale 1790 in the said county of Patrick containing Forty acres more or less and bounded as followeth (Metes and bounds description) To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Sand with all and every appurtenance thereunto belonging unto the said Joseph Cummings his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use of behoof of him the said Joseph Cummings his heirs and assigns, and the said Parties before named against themselves their respective heirs and assigns and against the claim and demand of all and every other person Whatsoever will warrant and forever defend the right and title of the said tract or parcel of Sand unto the said Joseph Cummings his heirs and assigns forever with all and every appurtenance thereunto belonging. VA Deed Book 2 Page 577 Helton to Turner This Indenture made this 27th day of Oct & in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five between Nathaniel Newman & Nathaniel Helton of Patrick County and State of Virginia of the one party and James Turner of same county of other party ______ that said Heltons for and in consideration of the sum of thirty five pounds then for ______ the receipt whereof they have hereby acknowledged bargained & sold & by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto the said James Turner a certain tract or parcel of land laying and being in the above mentioned County and on the waters of Jack Creek containing one hundred acres more or less and is bounded as followeth to Wit. Beginning on a white oak on said creek thence new lines N 65 E 94 poles to a poplar N 20 W 26 poles to a white oak E 100 poles to a chestnut then a conditional line to Newman Heltons old line along the same line to said creek thence up the creek to the beginning be same more or less to him the said Harris [Turner] to have and to hold with its appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him his heirs assigns ________.
