VA DEED: ABRAM REYNOLDS, Trustee, TO JOHN SHARP, 1824 Patrick County, Va., Deed Book 6, p. 327 Grantor: Abraham REYNOLDS, Trustee Grantee: John SHARP Date: 18 August 1824 THIS INDENTURE made this Eighteenth day of Augst. one thousand eigh hundred and twenty four between Abram Reynolds and John Sharp of the County of Patrick and state of Virginia Witnesseth that I the said Abram Reynolds was Trustee between the sd. John Sharp and Thos. H. Watson for a certain tract of Land which I the said Abram Reynolds sold by the virtue of sd. Deed of Trust which I the sd. Abram Reynolds Recd. of the said Jhohn Sharp Twenty five dollars and fifty cents and all costs attending the sale at or before the sealing these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath sold, received (?) and confirmed unto the sd. John Sharp one certain tract of land that was conveyed to me by virtue of a deed of Trust situated lying and being in the County aforesd. Containing fifty two Acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows to wit begining at James Ferrils corner chesnut tree in Joel Chitwonds line, thence with Ferrels line North 60 E 58 poles to a poplar on grass of fork of the North Mayo river & up the same as it meanders N. 13E. 156 poles with the sd. Watsons and Lockhearts line to a white Oake thence with a line of the latter S.73. W45 poles to Purdys Corner red oak and with his line S 25 W.84 poles to Chitwands corner Spanish oake and thence with his line S. 5. W. 85 poles to the begining to have and to hold the same unto the sd. John Sharp and the said Abram Reynolds doth Covenant and agree with the sd. John Sharp that he will relinquish all his right and title to the above land and premises as invested in him by the said deed of Trust I the sd. Abram Reynolds do make good no further the right than is invested in him as trustee by the sd. deed I the sd. Hancock of the other part Witnesseth the said Wm. Hancock hath this day for and in consideration of the sum of twelve dollars to him in hand paid Bargained and sold to the said Wm. Lyon one Tract piece or parcel of land lying and Being in the county of Patrick on the waters of Big Sycamore Creek and bounded as follows Beginning at a white oak on the said creek running new line North 20 degrees east to a white oak on the Road thence with said Road to a branch that divides between the said Lyon & Hancock thence down said branch as it meanders to the creek & down said creek to the beginning containing eight acres more or less with all woods ways water & water courses to him the said Lyon his heirs etc. & I the said Hancock do warrant and defend a good write & title forever in fee simple against the claims of myself my heirs or any other persons either in Law or equity. HALL, 1826 Patrick Co., Va., Deed Book 6, p. 486 Grantors: Henry Crum William Lyon, Trustee Grantee: Harden R. Hall Date: 26 Dec. 1825 THIS INDENTURE made this Twenty sixth day of December in the Year of Our Lord 1825 Between Henry Crum of the one part & William Lyon Trustee of the other part Each of the County of Patrick & Harden R. Hall creditor of the third part whereas the sd. Henry Crum is Justly Indebted unto Harden R. Hall in the sum of twenty seven dollars & 50 cents to be paid or or before 25 day of December in the Year 1826 it being a ballance of an execution & Interest against the sd. Crum & Edmund Penn for the benefit of John Duvall, & whereas the sd. Crum are Desirus & willing to secure the Ballance of the sd. Execution & release the property Now Executed Now this Indenture Witn that for and in Consideration of the premises and also for the further Consideration of One dollar of lawfull money of Virginia to the said Crum in hand paid by the sd. William Lyon Trustee at & before the sealing & delivery of these presents the Rect. whareas is heareby acknowledged he the sd. Henry Crum hath Given, Granted, bargained, sold, released & confirmed & by these presents doth give, Grant, bargain, sell & confirm unto the sd. Wm. Lyon one Negro Girl named Mary about six or seven Years old & I the sd. Henry Crum do warrant & ever defend the right & title of the said Negro Mary unto the S. Lyon & his heirs forever from all persons claiming the sd. Negro Upon trust Nevertheless that the sd. Lyon his heirs Executors & administrators shall permit the said Negro Mary to remain in possession of the sd. Crum untill default be made in payment of the said sum $27.50 so happening of such default of such payment the sd. Lyon shall proceed to sell the sd. Slave for the best price that can be had by first advertising the sd. Slave at the Courthouse of the day & place of sale and the money arising theirfrom pay the debt & cost of sale & the resedue to the said Crum. As Witness our hands this day & date as above. Witnesseth that the said James Singleton and Susannah his wife, Annah Mayo, Elijah Helton and Rachel his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and six dollars to them in hand paid by Samuel Helton, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have granted, bargained, sell, release and confirm unto the said Samuel Helton five sixths, being the shares of John Tuggle, Annah Tuggle, Susannah Tuggle & Rachel Tuggle being heirs and coparceners of Joshua Tuggle, dec. of a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Patrick on Rockcastle a branch of Smith’s river containing four hundred acres more or less and bounded as followeth. Viz. Beginning at a cherry tree and red oak thence N.70W. 350 poles crossing a branch to a black oak S.115W. 165 poles to a white oak S.5 E. 95 poles to a Spanish oak E 100 poles crossing a branch on the West side of the mountain to ________S.15W. 45 poles to a white oak in Pattersons order line, thence with the line S.85E. 40 poles to a gum at the head of a branch. Thence down the same as it meanders to the beginning. (Being the same tract of land conveyed by Henry Tuggle to Joshua Tuggle dec. and decends to his children, the said John Tuggle, Annah Mayo formerly Annah Tuggle, Susannah Singleton formerly Susannah Tuggle, Rachel Helton formerly Rachel Tuggle, Mary Pendleton formerly Mary Tuggle and Sarah Harris formerly Sarah Tuggle) To have and to hold the said five sixths of the tract of land aforesaid to the only and proper use and behoof of him the said Samuel Helton and his heirs forever and the said James Singleton and Susannah his wife, Annah Mayo, Elijah Helton and Rachel his wife for themselves and each of their heirs do hereby covenant to and with the said Samuel Helton and his heirs the said five sixths of the tract of land aforesaid to the said Samuel Helton his heirs and assigns free from the claim of them the said James Singleton and Susannah his wife, Annah Mayo, Elijah Helton and Rachel his wife, them or either of their heirs and all or every person or persons whomsoever shall will and do by these presents warrant and forever defend. Sandefur Grantee: Samuel Sharp (Tr) Date: 9 December 1827 This Indenture Made this 9 day of December 1827. Between Wm. A. Sandefur of the one part and Matthew Sandefur of the 2nd part & Samuel Sharp trustee of the 3rd part Witnesseth that whereas the said Wm. A. Sandefur stands justly indebted to the said M. Sandefur in the sum of two hundred and sixty four dollars fifty cents and also the said M. Sandefur stands bound as security for the sum of Twenty five dollars on a bond executed by the said William A. Sandefur to Saml. Harris & by him assigned to Wm. Hancock. And he being desirous to make good & Secure the debt aforesaid as well as to indemnify the said M. Sandefur in the securityship aforesaid, and also for the further sum of One dollar to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and deliver unto the said Samuel Sharp One Grey horse, four head of Cattle & their increase seven heads of Hogs One Rifle Gun Cross Mounted One barrel of brandy now at William Thompsons One feather bed of furniture 1 hair trunk 1 Bee station 1 scythe & cradle 1 pott & hooks One Skillet twenty three barrels corn, five Chairs 1 plow 1 coutter 1 drawing Knife 1 pr. Gears 1 pole axe 1 hilling hoe 1 Dutch Oven 1 table 1 sow & pigs One bond on James M. Redd for fifty five dollars also his agreement for twelve dollars & ten cents One bond on Edmund McAlexander with Wm. Ayer security for twenty dollars One on Jacob Helms Senr. for eleven dollars One on John Edwards with Jesse Mankin security for ten dollars. Also one sett of Knives & forks 1 sett plates two dishes One bowl 1 pitcher 3 tumblers 1 pr Cotton Cards One Coutters wheel One saddle & bridle & one Loom & 1 flat Iron also two blade stacks & a parcel of sheave oats also a parcel of walnut timber for Cupboards etc. And the said Wm. A. Sandefur doth oblige himself his heirs etc. to warrant & defend to the said Samuel Sharp & his heirs a good and lawful right to the said property bonds etc, against the claim or claims of all & every person or persons whatsoever -- In trust nevertheless that if the said Wm. A. Sandefur his heirs etc. shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said M. Sandefur or his heirs the aforesaid sum of two hundred and sixty four dollars 55 cents and also shall pay & Satisfy so as to indemnity the said M. Sandefur the Securityship aforesaid then the said Saml. Sharp doth oblige himself to convey back to the said Wm. A. Sandefur the title hereby vested in him to the property aforesaid etc. But if he shall fail to do so on or before the 25th Decr. 1828 then the said Sharp doth oblige himself whenever thereto required by the said M. Sandefur to sell the above mentioned property to the highest bidder at publick auction for ready money (previously advertizing the time & place of sale at some publick house in Patrick County at least ten days) and out of the proceeds thereof first pay to the said M. Sandifur the sums of Money aforesaid together with the Cost of recording & Carrying this deed into effect and the surplus (if any) pay to the said Wm. A. Sandefur or his legal representative.
