VA Patrick Co., Va. DB 13, p. 52 This Indenture made and entered into this 11 day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and forty seven between Daniel Harriss and his wife, Nancy Harriss, of the County of Henry and State of Virginia of the one part and Stokeley Martin of the County of Patrick and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of seventeen dollars current money of Virginia to him in hand paid before the unsealing and delivery of these presents the ________whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, sold, released and confirmed unto the said Stokely Martin his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situated lying in the County aforesaid and containing by survey forty six acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at a Chestnut tree near a Red Oak far from a Gate thence running N. 16 @. 12 poles thence N. 45 W. 27 poles to a Chestnut tree on Blackberry Creek thence down the same North and with the meanders thereof one hundred and thirty four poles and across the creek to a White Oak thence S. 80 W. 63 poles and across the creek to a Red Oak S. 8 E. 62 poles and with the creek and across to a corner near Giles Martins fence thence down the creek S. 60 E. 40 poles to a Chestnut tree thence S. 80 E. 60 poles to a White Oak near the Red Oak far from a Gate thence to the beginning corner Chestnut tree. With all underways water and with corner trees orchards houses fences and all other the endearments there unto belonging or in any way appertaining to hold and fully enjoy the same and I do for myself and my heirs and my wife Nancy Harriss and her heirs forever warrant and defend the right and use of the said Land and premises to him the said Stokeley Martin and his heirs forever against the claim or claims or _______ of any person or persons whatsoever either in law or equity. Penn, justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Daniel Harriss and Nancy Harriss his wife parties to a certain deed bearing date on the 11th day of December 1847 and hereto ammend personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged that same to be their act and deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgment the Clerk of County Court of Patrick in order that the land deed may be recorded. Penn justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Nancy Harriss wife of Daniel Harriss parties in a certain deed bearing date on the 11 Day of December 1847 and hereto amended personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined by us privately and apart from her husband and delivering the deed aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Nancy Harriss acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared she willingly signed, sealed and delivered the same and does not wish to retract it. VA DILLION TO DILLION DEED (1850) Recorded in Patrick County, Virginia Deed Book 13, page 534. This Indenture made this 20th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty between Carrington Dillion of the county of Patrick of the one part and Jesse Dillion of the said county of the other part. Witness that for and in consideration of the sum of eighty dollars to him the said Carrington Dillion in hand paid by the said Jessee Dillion the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged doth bargain and sell and infer of and confirm unto the said Jessee Dillion and his heirs forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county aforesaid on the North east waters of Kogers creek containing forty acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows to wit. Begining [sic] on two Red Oaks on Carrington Dillion and King's line thence runing [sic] a new line crossing a branch to two persimmions on the old path called the Mill path. Thence a new chopped line with the path to a chestnut tree on Reynolds road with the road to a red oak in said Carrington Dillion's line. That line N.13 E.43 poles to a red oak now spanish oak on the road below Center Meeting House N17 W160 poles to King's corner hickory and with his line N59 E38 poles to a white oak in King's field and Goins line. Thence a new line with King's and said Carrington Dillion's to the begining [sic]. With all woods, roads, water, watercourses, trees, orchards, houses and all other the [sic] emoluments thereunto belonging. To have and to hold the said tract of land with all and singular [sic] its appertenances [sic] to the only proper behoof and benefit of the said Jessee Dillion and his heirs forever and the said Carrington Dillion doth oblige himself and his heirs to warrant and ever defend to the said Jessee Dillion and his heirs a good and lawful right in fee simple to the above granted land and premises with all its appertenances [sic] against the claim or claims of all and every other person or persons whasomever [sic]either in law or in equity.
