VA DB 32 p. 85 7 Nov, 1902 This deed made the 7th day of November 1902 by G. W. Harris and Allie M. Harris, his wife, householders and head of a family for the purpose of claiming a homestead exemption under the provisions of Chapter 170 of the code of Virginia of 1887, and do hereby claim as a homestead exemption the following: All the household and kitchen furniture owned by them, value at $150. One sewing machine value $15. One clock value $2. Two barns of tobacco valued at $250. One half interest in a barn of tobacco valued at $50. 60 barrels of corn value at $150. Three head of cattle valued at $50. One horse & one mule valued both at $200. One set of harness valued at $15. __________ & applies to the amt. of $35. One wagon valued at $60. Two hogs valued at $25. One lot of fodder valued at $50. One debt due from Shake Wigginton amounting to $10. Witness the following signatures & seals. G.W. Harris (Seal) Allie M. VA DB 32, p. 139 9 Dec. 1909 This deed made this 9th day of December in the year one thousand nine hundred and two between Alley M. Harriss & G. W. Harriss her husband, parties of the first part, and M.V. Stedman party of the second part Witnesseth: That in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and seventy one dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said first parties doth grant unto the said M.V. Stedman with general warranty, all that certain tract or parcel of land, on the waters of South Mayo River, lying in Patrick County Virginia, it being the same land conveyed by deed of 30 July 1887 from Thos. T. Dehart & wife which deed is properly recorded in Patrick Co. Court Clerk's office and which is referred to for a more particular description to the said land. The said Alley M. Harriss & G. W. Harriss ________that they have the right to convey the said land to the grantee, that they have done no act to encumber the said land, that the grantee shall have quiet possession of the said land free from any encumbrances and that they the said parties of the first part will execute such further assurance of the said land as may be requisite.
