Harrell/Johnson Deed, 1849 - Patrick Co. VA Deed to John Harrell from Robert C. Johnson, 1849 Patrick County, Virginia This Indenture made and entered into this 14th day of December, in the year of Christ, one thousand eight hundred and forty nine, by and between Robert C. Johnson and Marsha L. his wife, of the County of Carroll and State of Virginia, of the first part, and John Harrill of the County of Pulaski of the second part: Witnesseth that the said Robert C. Johnson and Marsha L. his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars, lawful, money of Virginia, to them in hand paid by the said John Harrill before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do firmly bargain and sell, convey and confirm to the said John Harrill one certain tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the county of Patrick, in the State of Virginia, on the waters of Dan River, being the same tract of land devised by Valentine Johnson to the said Robert C. Johnson, containing four hundred acres, be the same more or less, and bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at two chestnuts from one root, and a white oak sapling, corner to Wilson North Price's, and on a line of Weaver's line--thence with his line S26 E 208 poles, crossing said Weaver's corner and spring branch to a black oak--thence S74 W310 poles, across two branches and a fork of Dan to a chestnut and two gums--Thence N26 W202 poles, crossing a branch several times to a gum and hickory in said Wilson N Price's line--with his line N74 E310 poles crossing a prong of Dan to the beginning--with its appurtenances. To have and to hold the above said tract of land, with its appurtenances to the said John Harrill and his heirs forever: to the only proper use and behoof of the said John Harrill and his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Robert C. Johnson and Marsha L. his wife, for themselves and their heirs covenant with the said John Harrill, that they, the said Robert L. Johnson and Marsha L. his wife, the said tract, with its appurtenances to the said John Harrill and his heirs, against the claim or claims of themselves, the said Robert L. Johnson, and Marsha L. his wife and their heirs and all and every person or persons whomsoever, shall warrant, and will forever defend by these presents. In witnesseth whereof the said Robert C. Johnson, party to a certain deed bearing date, on the 14th day of December 1849, and hereunto annexed, personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid, and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed, and desired us to certify his said acknowledgment to the Clerk of the County Court of Patrick County in order that the said deed may be recorded.
