LEE, GABRIEL CRITZ,and PETER A. LEE, Trustee-1844 Surname: CARTER, LEE, CRITZ, HOLLANDSWORTH, HAIRSTON, MARTIN, SLANE, DODSON, CUSTER, TUDOR This indenture made and entered into this 26th day of Febuary 1844 between Lucy Carter the debtor and J. G. Lee and G. Critz the creditors and Peter A. Lee,Trustee,the said Lucy Carter being willing and desirous to secure to Jno G. Lee and G. Critz a certain debt as security to Thomas Hancock by reference to a note the said Lucy Carter do convey in Trust to Peter A Lee,Trustee the following property hereafter named one tract or parcel of land in the County of Patrick and on Blackbery Creek on each side of said creek containing by title bond from Thomas Hollandsworth Sr twenty five acres be the same more or less,joining the land of Hairston and Stokely Martin and Thomas Slane and Wm Hollandsworth and also ___head of cattle and___head of hogs two beds and furniture lot of pots and ovens and all kitchen furniture and all household furniture of any kind and all contents in any way belonging to the Mill namely one pair mill stones and all Plantation utensels of all kinds one sorrel mare 1 colt and all future increase of thr property above conveyed to have and to hold to Peter A. Lee,Trustee to his heirs or so much as will be of value sufficient to pay the sum of fifty three Dollars due 1st March 1845 and all cost attending this conveyance. Now if said Lucy Carter will pay off the debt above named by 1st March 1845 then this conveyance to be null and void else remain in full force and virtue and after the 1st March 1845 and at the request of J. G. Lee or G. Critz or their heirs the said Peter A. Lee,Trustee will proceed to sell on the premises the above property or so much as will be sufficient to satisfy and discharge the debt to the above named and the over plus to pay over to Lucy Carter or her heirs . The said Trustee named in this indenture will advertise this property conveyed in this indenture fifteen days previous to any sale at the Court house of Patrick County and at one or two places in the neighborhood of the premises and the said Lucy Carter do warrant and defend the right and title of the said property mentioned in Trust and relinqiish all right to Peter A. Lee,Trustee to his heirs and the said Peter A. Lee do promise and agree to discharge the confidence reposed in him by the parties attached in this indenture.
