Lyon/Robertson Deed, 1832 Patrick Co., Va., Deed Book 8, p. 134 Grantors: William and Milly Lyon Grantee: William Robertson Date: 1 October 1832 This Indenture made and entered into this 1st day of October 1832 between William Lyon and Milly his wife of the County of Patrick of the one part and William Robertson of the other part Witnesseth that the said William and Milly Lyon for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to them in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained sold released and confirmed unto the said William Robertson his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract piece or parcel of Land Situate lying & being in the County of Patrick and the Waters of Big Sycamore Creek containing two hundred and fifty eight acres more or less and bounded as followeth to wit, Beginning at a corner red oak in John Davises line near the road between the said Lyon & Davises thence with the road across the said Sycamore creek to a mahgany tree thence South up the hill to the back line on a chesnut tree thence new line S 72 E 78 poles to a chesnut tree East 66 poles to a chesnut oak on the side of a ridge thence down the same N 12 E and to a branch thence with the same 243 poles to a white oak in Thomas Morrisons line thence with that line S 68 W 120 poles to a white oak on the North bank of said Sycamore Creek a little below the mile, it being the begining of an eight acre tract bought of Wm. Hancock thence N 20 E to a white oak on the road thence with the said road to a branch then up the branch to Dandridge Slaughters line thence with said Dandridge Slaughters line to John Davises line thence with the said John Davises line to the Begining with all woods, ways, water, and water courses, fences trees orchards and Houses except a house in which John Lyon now lives and that is sold to John Davis and is to be moved off, and all other the emoluments appertaining or in any wise belonging thereunto, To have and to hold the same to him the said William Robertson his heirs and assigns forever against us and our heirs and all and every person or persons whatsoever either in law or equity, recovering claiming or having any just right title or estate therein but do by these presents forever warrant and defend the above mentioned land and premises to him the said William Robertson his heirs and successors to hold and fully enjoy the same In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals the day and year above written. Hairston Justices of the peace in the county aforesaid and State of Va. do hereby certify that Milly Lyon the wife of William Lyon the parties to a certain deed bearing date on the 1 day of Oct. 1832 and hereunto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and being examined privilly and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained before to here she the said Milly Lyon acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly signed it sealed and delivered the same and she wished not to retract it Given under our hands and seals this 11th day of Oct 1832.
