Teste A Staples D C (Transcribed by Mary C. Smith from a photocopy provided by the Patrick County Circuit Court, Stuart, Va. Note: John SHARP acquired both these parcels of land from William SHARP, the first on 9 April 1787 [93 acres], the second on 9 Jan. 1793 [90 acres]. This second parcel is the same land that John Sharp sold to John Crum on 12 March 1792. In the 1792 deed, however, the phrase is "North Seventy Six Degrees East Eight poles to pointers in Chiles line...." while in 1819 the phrase changes to "No 76 degrees E 80 po...." Perhaps the note at the end about altering was meant to correct this "error"; however the original 1787 land grant to William SHARP actually says "East eight poles" and it is the deed from William to John that converts the "eight" to "Eighty.")
