Sharp/Gilbert Deed, 1824 - Patrick Co. VA Patrick County, Va., Deed Book 6, p. 303 Grantor: Joseph SHARP and wife [unnamed] Grantee: Fredrick GILBERT Date: 3 April 1824 THIS INDENTURE made this 3 day of April 1824 between Joseph Sharp and wife of the County of Patrick and state of Virga. of the one part and Fredrick Gilbert of the same County and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars money of the United States in hand paid by the said Fredrick Gilbert at and before the ensealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold released and confirmed unto the said Fredrick Gilbert and his heirs forever one Certain Tract piece or parcel of land situate & lying & being in the County aforesaid containing by estimation seventy five acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows to Wit, beginning on the top of Carters Mountain on a chesnut oak Thence running according to Choped lines agreed upon by the parties till it strikes A. Sheltons line, thence to W. Sharp's line and with his line to John B. Hudsons line and with that line as it meanders to the said Joseph Sharps line according to the choped lines as mentioned & agreed upon by the parties, it being the land on which the said F. Gilbert at present resides & which the said Sharp purchased of S. Staples & said Staples from John Strange. With all woods ways water and water courses trees orchards and all other the emoluments thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the same unto him the said Frederick Gilbert and his heirs and assigns forever with its appertenances to hold and fully enjoy the same and the said Joseph Sharp for himself and his wife and their heirs do warrant and defend the right & title of the land & premises above mentioned to him the said Fredrick Gilbert and his heirs & assigns forever against the claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming or having any just right or title therein but do by these presents forever warrant & defend the same against the claim of all & every person or person whatsoever either in law or equity.
