SHARP Grantee: Matthew SANDIFUR, Trustee Date: 17 October 1831 THIS INDENTURE made this 17th day of October in the year of our Lord 1831 Between William N. Sharp of the County of Patrick of the one part, Matthew Sandifur trustee of the Second part, and Abram Staples Thomas J. Penn _? and Milton R. Dodson of third part Witnesseth that whereas the said William N. Sharp stands Justly indebted to the said Abram Staples to the sum of forty seven dollars and thirty five cents due by note payable the 18th day of this present month (Oct) also to the said Thos. J. Penn _? the sum of [blank] dollars payable the [blank] day of [blank] due by note also to the said Milton R. Dodson the sum of Nine dollars and ninety three cents payable the 17th day of this month October which will more fully appear by refference to the said notes now in the hands of the several obligees. And being desirous to make good and secure the payment of the several sums of money aforesaid and for the further sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said M. Sandifur hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell alien and confirm unto the said M. Sandifur as trustee the following Lands and property to wit one tract or parcel of land situate lying and being and being in the County of Patrick on the head waters of Russells Creek containing by estimation two hundred acres be the same more or less, and bounded as follows to wit, Begining at pointers in Gilberts line N33 W. 14 pos. to a white oak N24 E 34 pos. to a white oak So. 12 E 16 pos. to pointers So. 60 W 146 pos. crossing two branches to a sorrelwood tree N79 W 84 pos. to a white oak thence So. 30 E 130 pos. to a red oak S51 W. 94 pos. to a white oak So. 59 E 149 pos. to a red oak East 47 poles crossing a branch of Russells Creek to a chesnut tree in Rogers line that line up the branch No. 14 W 30 pos. to a corner N45 E 12 pos. to a corner No. 60 E 56 poles to a corner N40 E20 pos. to a corner N32 W 60 pos. to pointers on the branch, thence a new line 157 poles to the begining, it being the land he obtained by Virtue of a land warrant. Also another tract of Land containing fifty six acres more or less the boundaries of which may be seen by reference to the papers in a suit in Chancery instituted by the said William N. Sharp and now depending in the County Court of Patrick against the heirs of Robert Sharp deceased. All his interest in which is intended and meant to be conveyed by this Indenture. Also two beds and furniture one cow and calf and large kettle and Shop pott and all his other tools belonging to his hatter shop, one pot, and two ovens one skillet one oven lid four head of hogs and all his plantation tools of every description, one chest one table, one cupboard one loom two cotton wheels and three or four pair of cards. To have and to hold the aforesaid Land and property to him the said M. Sandifur and his heirs forever against the claim of all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming under him either in law or equity upon this special trust and condition that if the said Wm. N. Sharp his heirs etc shall will and truly pay or cause to be paid to the said A. Staples Thos. J. Penn _? and Milton R. Dodson their heirs and assigns the several sums of money as above mentioned with the interest that may accrue thereon together with the costs of recording this deed on or before the 1st day of November next then this indenture to be null and void. But if he shall fail to do so then the said M. Sandifur doth oblige himself his certain attorney his heirs etc whenever thereto required by the said Staples Penn _? & Milton R. Dodson or their heirs or assigns and the Surplus if any pay to the said Wm. N. Sharp or his legal representatives.
