Stovall/Hall Indenture, 1824 - Patrick Co. VA PATRICK CO. VA. DEED BOOK - December 24, 1824 D.B. #6,pg. 361 This Indenture made this 24 day of December in the year of our Lord 1824 between Archelous H. Stovall of the County of Patrick and State of Virg. Of the one part, and John Hall Sheriff of the County and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Archelous H. Stovall for and in consideration of a debt of honor promises one shilling and nine pence current money of Virginia with legal interest-thereon from 25th day of September 1821 till payment of the costs of suit --- $7.67 cents and 15/. and Sheriff’s considerations --- due to John Jones April 26th will more fully show reference being --- to the Judgment obtained in the County Court of Patrick aforesaid by the said Jones April as aforesaid date the said Stovall hath bargained ----- released and confirmed unto the said John Hall Sheriff as aforesaid his heirs and assignees forever one certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the County of Patrick on the North waters of Lovings Creek containing 200 acres more or less and bounded as followith; to wit; Beginning at a Spanish Oak on a ridge near a path that leads to Elana Ayers thence running N. 30 W. 120 poles to a Chestnut Oak N. 82 W. 89 poles to a White Oak thence South 35 W. 124 poles to a Red Oak to 56 W. 97 poles to a --- tree to 30 E. 104 poles to a White oak in Clouds and John Johnsons line with Clouds to 30 E. 180 poles to a ---- thereto the beginning with all woods, ways, water and water courses fences trees, orchards, houses and all other the ------appertaining or in any wise belonging thereto to have and to hold the same to him the said John Hall Sheriff as aforesaid and his heirs and assignees against ---- any heirs and all and every other person or persons whatsoever either in or equity receiving claiming in having any just right title or estate therein ----- by these presents forever warrant and defend the land and premises above mentioned to the said John Hall Sheriff his heirs and successors to hold and fully enjoy the same.
