Anglin/Purdy/Tudor Deed, 1859 - Patrick Co. VA ANGLIN AND PURDY TO TUDOR DEED (1859) Recorded in Deed Book 17, page 16, Patrick County, Virginia. This Indenture, made this 10th day of August, 1859, between Elisha Anglin, Braxton Purdy & Mary Ann his wife, of the first, & William Tudor of the second part, all of the County of Patrick & state of Virginia, Witnesseth: that the said Anglin, Purdy and wife hath granted, bargained & sold unto the said Tudor one crtain tract or parcel of land containing 138 acres situated on the head waters of Prather's creek N. Mayo bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning on a chestnut tree S56 west 220 poles crossing two branches to position over ridge N36 W112 po. to a chestnut tree, N51 E182 po. to forked chestnut tree in John A. Hairston's line; with that line S70 W40 po. to a chestnut tree & charred oak S69 E114 pos. to the beginning with all its appurtenances thereunto belonging for the sum of Seventy five dollars paid by the said Anglin to the said B. Purdy & wife for a good & law right to which the said Anglin and Purdy & wife doth hereby bind themselves to warrant and defend against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever either in law or equity. Patrick County, to wit: We, James Joyce & Barnes Carter Justices of the Peace for the county of Patrick & state of Virginia, do certify that Mary Ann Purdy the wife of Braxton Purdy, whose names are signed to the writing within, bearing date on the 10th day of August, 1859 previously affirmed before us in the county aforesaid & being examined by us privily & apart from her husband & having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her, she, the said Mary Ann Purdy, acknowledged the said writing to be her act, and declared that she had willingly executed the same, and does not wish to retract it.
