Via and Martha A. Via parties of the first part, and Taylor A. Wright party of the second part. Witnesseth: That in consideration of the sum of one hundred ($100) Dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said parties of the first part do grant unto the said party of the second part with General Warranty all one certain parcel of land lying and being in Patrick County Virginia on the waters of Puppy Creek, adjoining the lands of W.A. Via, Lelia J. Wright, and Charlie Martin containing seven and one half acres and bounded as follows: Beginning--a corner stone at the ford of the creek on the S.W. Side of Public road thence up the creek as it meanders S. 73 1/2 degrees W. 5 1/2 P.S. 30 degrees W. 5 P. S. 56 degrees W. 10 3/5 P.S. 27 degrees W. 7P. S. 6 degrees W. 7 1/2 P. S. 62 degrees W. 7P. S. 27 1/2 degrees W 9 1/2 P. S. 44 degrees W. 14 1/2 P to a corner hornbeam on bank of creek then leaving the creek N.87 1/2 degrees E 13 1/2 P. to a corner rock just above another large rock N. 67 1/2 degrees E 47 1/2 degrees P. to a corner stone on the public road then down the road as it meanders N 40 degrees E 3 1/2 P. N. 19 degrees W. 9 1/2 P. N 49 degrees W 5 1/2 P. N. 58 degrees W. 11 4/5 P. N 11 degrees W. 8 P. to the beginning. The said W.A. Via and Martha A. Via his wife, parties of the first part covenant that they have the right to convey the said land to the grantee that they have done no act to encumber the said land; that the grantee shall have quiet possession of the said land, free from all encumbrances and that they the said parties of the first part; will execute such further assurance of the said land as may be requisite. Witness the following signature and seal: W.A. Via (Seal) Martha A. Via (Seal) State of Virginia, County of Patrick to-wit: I, H.T. Foley, a Justice of the peace, in and for the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia, do certify that W.A. Via and Martha A. Via, whose names are signed to the foregoing writing, bearing date on the 7 day of August, 1913, have acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid. Given under my hand, this 7 day of August, 1913-- H.T. Foley, J.P. Virginia, Patrick County to-wit: In the Clerk's office of Patrick Circuit Court, the 11th day of August, 1913 this deed was presented and with the certificates annexed admitted to record. Teste: J.S. Taylor, Clerk Additional Comments: This same property was sold on February 6, 1922 to his future son-in-law Peter Martin who then sold this same property to his brother Charlie Martin on May 19, 1922. However the deed was not recorded in the Patrick County Circuit Court Clerk's Office until twenty seven years later on October 4, 1949.
