Mays, Patrick county sheriff, said Walter Fain 50 was being held in jail at Stuart today on charges of killing Harbor Martin, also about 50 on a road near Martin's home yesterday. The officer said Fain came to him to surrender, and said "I shot him because he cursed me." Commonwealth's Attorney F.P. Burton, who investigated with the sheriff, said the two men were brothers-in-law and that Martin formerly boarded at the Fain home. The prosecutor said Martin moved away and that bad feeling grew up between the two men. The two county officers said Mr. and Mrs. George Clifton were witnessed to the roadside shooting. Martin died instantly. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/patrick/newspapers/patrickm11nnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/vafiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
