Dodson [Patrick Co.], Va., July 20. Mr. Emmett Turner, who was thrown from a horse July 7th, was fatally injured, bursting his skull on both sides of his head. He was rushed to the Lewis Gale Hospital at Roanoke the 8th. He died July 9th. His body was laid to rest on the 10th in the family burial ground. His funeral was conducted by Rev. J. G. L. Hash of Endicott. He made his stay on earth a little over 25 years. He leaves to mourn his loss his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Turner, five bothers, Eura, Taylor, Robert, Orie and Woodrow, and five sisters, Mrs. Elzie Thomas, Misses Alberta, Martha and Pattie Turner. Additional Comments: He is buried in the Shelton and Turner Cemetery which is located in the woods off Union Church Road in a very remote area of Patrick County, Virginia. His funeral is mentioned in Calendar Record of Events 1909-1959 of James Goode Lane Hash.
