SHARP BONDSMAN: Samuel GILBERT DATE: 9 January 1837 Know all men by these presents, That we Armstead Newman & S. Gilbert are held and firmly bound unto W. Robertson, Esq., _? Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and his Successors, in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and Administrators, jointly, and severally, firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals, and dated this 9th day of Jany 1837. The condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas a marriage is intended to be solemnized between the above bound A Newman and F. Sharp of Patrick County Now if there be now lawful cause, to obstruct the said marriage, then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue.
