Will of Francis Nowlin, 1841 - Patrick Co. VA Dec. 30th 1841 I Francis Nowlin of the County of Patrick and State of Virginia being weak of body but of sound disposing mind and memory do make this my last will and testament. First) I will and desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate by the sale of such property as my wife Mary may best spare. Second I give & bequeath to my wife Mary all of my estate both real and personal except such parts as I do hereafter devise to use during her during her natural life or widowhood. Thirdly) I give and bequeath to my daughter Leathy by my first wife Sarah, two cows and calves, two sows and pigs, one ewe and lambs, 1 set of cups and saucers, 1 set plates, 1 set knives and forks to be delivered at my death. Fourthly) I give and bequeath to my daughter America one cow and calf, one colt, two sows and pigs, 1 ewe and lamb, 1 set cups & saucers, 1 set plates, 1 set knives and forks. Fifthly) I give and bequeath to my son Abraham 1 horse bridle & saddle, one cow & calf, one sow and pigs, 1 ewe & lamb, 1 set cups & saucers, 1 set plates & set knives and forks. Sixthly) I give to my son Spencer Nowlin one hundred dollars to be paid by son Abraham Nowlin in consideration of his my son Abraham Nowlin having all my tract of land after the death of my wife Mary. Seventhly) I give and bequeath to my two daughters Sarah Joyce wife of Lenny Stone Joyce & America Nowlin my negro girl (name looks like Key) and all her increase after the death of my wife Mary that the balance of my negores and all my other property except such as is above devised be sold on a credit of twelve months and the same be equally divided among all my children as follows except my son Spencer Nowlin he receiving the above one hundred dollars in full of all his part of my estate Elizabeth Nowlin, Hannah Harbour, Nancy Fulcher, Ruth Nowlin, Leathy Nowlin, Sarah Joyce, America Nowlin and Abraham Nowlin. Eighty): I give and bequeath unto my son Abram Nowlin one feather bed and furniture and to my daughter America one feather bed and furniture And I do hereby revoke all my former wills made by me & say that this is my last will and testament and I do hereby constitue and appoint my friend Lemuel Joyce and my son in law Livingston Joyce my Executors to carry (?) this my will (can't decipher) into effect.
