Samuel Packwood Will- Patrick Co.Va. Will Book 1, Page 141 In the name of God,Amen. I ,samuel Packwood of Patrick Co.Va. being sick and weak in body, but of perfect- sound mind and disposing memory thanks be to Almighty God for the same-andcalling to mind that all flesh must die; do make and ordain this to be my last will and Testament-in manner following. First- As touching my wordly estate; after paying and contenting(sp) all my just debts. My will and desire is that all my estate both real and personal shall be enjoyed by my well beloved wife Elizabeth Packwood during her natural life except-such useless(sp) stock or other property as she may direct my executors to sale in order for distribution among the proper legatees. Item 2. My will is that -after the deceas to execute lawful business relationse of my aforesaid wife that all my land except-sixty three acres of land lying on the south side of Smith's river adjoining the land where on Charles Smith now lives and being a part of the land sold him by William and Elisha Packwood which rite and lawfully title .I want -said Charles Smith to have said 63 acres of land. The balance of my land to be sold by me Executors and divided as follow giving the profits of said land equally to my children namely; William Packwood; Richard Packwood; Richard Packwood(typo error perhaps); Larkin Packwood; Samuel Packwood;and Rachel Smith; valentine Gearheart; Nancy Packwood for the benefit of Sally's Bartlett's children;Nancy Packwood for her own benefit;Edith McCutcheon;Elizabeth Prillaman. But my will is that Elisha Packwood pay a hundred dollars out of his legacy to be equally divided amongst the rest as named. Item 3. My desire is that my daughter Nancy Packwood have my negro girl-Esther with her increase after the death of my wife Elizabeth Packwood for her lawful rite and property for ever. The balance of my estate consisting of one negro fellow called Ambrose , all my houselold and kitchen furniture, plantation tools and utensils of all description, stock(looks like H) of every kind be sold in like manner with my lands and divided as before directed. And lastly, I hearby nominate and appoint my well-beloved daughter Nancy Packwood and my neighbor Peter Smith, my lawful executrix and executors to execute lawful business relative to my said estate.
