Hugh Macfarlane
Born at Hilton House,
Paisley, Scotland
June 22, 1860
Died in Petersburg, Virginia
June 14, 1898


Sacred to the memory of
James Mury McCulloch
a native of Scotland, but
for 32 years a citizen of
Virginia and a resident of
Petersburg, -
Devoting himself to commercial
pursuits he contributed
much by his enterprise and
Liberality to the prosperity
of that City to whose very
interest he was always a warm
and active friend. –
Upright and honorable in
all his dealings generous in
his impulses and exemplary
in every relation of life he
enjoyed in the highest degree
the confidence and esteem of
all who knew him and partic-
cularly of the Community of
which he was so long a member.-
He left besides his weeping
relatives a host of friends
to mourn his irreparable
loss.  Enemy he had none.
He died suddenly in the
City of Richmond on the
22nd. day of November 1860
at the age of 47 years.
