Her disconsolate husband, who with so worthy a partner upward of 17 years enjoyed every felicity the connubial fate can afford erected this tomb in commemoration of her virtues. Wright a native of Weatherfield, the state of Coon Born Aug. 25th A.D. 1779 Departed this life Sept. 16, 1811 This tomb the last tribute of affection is erected to his memory by his disconsolate widow – Lucy Wright. Here lies the mortal remains of Miss Martha Wills Cole who departed this life on the 2nd of Sept. Anno Domino 1817 at the early age of 16 yrs & 1 mo. Words could but fairly delmate her virtues, her worth was known to her friends who loved her as the pulse of their own hearts. She was beloved by all who knew her, but by one more than all, who has caused this tomb to be erected as a token of affection. Oh, she was good and she was fair, But for a moment given the angels came to claim their own and bore her soul to Heaven. Mar. 10, 1841 Died in New York City Feb. 21, 1920 Beneath this stone rest the remains of Mary Ruffin Dunlop eldest daughter of John & Mary Gilliam of the County of Prince George & wife of John Dunlop, merchant of the town of Petersburg She was born on the 2nd of Oct. 1784. Married on the 10th day of Nov. A.D. 1805 and departed this life on the 18th day of Jan. A.D. 1811. She endured long & painful illness, with true christian fortitude & resignation & died much & justly regretted by all who knew her. On her right lies the body of her eldest daughter, which expired shortly after her birth. On her left lies that of her youngest son, John Gilliam Dunlop, who lived only 33 & survived his mother 18 days. These stones were erected to their memory by her husband & their father. She died in Petersburg on the 6th of July 1812 in the 33rd year of her age-After a long & severe illness, which was borne with christian fortitude, leaving a husband & 6 children to deplore her loss. As a testimony of his affection this stone is erected by her husband.
