Deed - William Cole to Richard Gregory (Hustings Court Deed Book 1, page 426, Petersburg,VA.) This Indenture made this Fourteenth Day of December Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Eight Between William Cole of the County of Prince George and Ann his wife of the one part and Richard Gregory of the Town of Blandford and County aforesaid of the other part.Witnesseth that the said William Cole and Ann his wife for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five pounds Lawful money of virginia to them in hand paid by the said Richard Gregory at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge,and thereof do acquit and discharge the s'd. Richard Gregory his heirs and assigns, have by these presents Given, Granted, Bargained, Sold, and delivered, and do hereby Give, Grant, Bargain, Sell, and Deliver unto the said Richard Gregory his heirs and assigns forever a certain Lot of land laying and being in that part of Petersburg commonly called New Blandford containing one acre and one fourth of an acre more or less adjoining the Lots Number Thirty and Number Thirty Three and Number Thirty Four, being two hundred feet in Breadth and Two hundred and thirty one feet in length laying on the South side of (blank) Street and known in the plot or plan of the said Town by the Lot Number Thirty Two reference being had to the 5th plot or plan (now remaining of record in the Court of Hustings in the Town of Petersburg) will more fully and at large appear.- Together with all houses, Buildings, Gardens, Orchards, Water Ways, Water Courses, profits, commodities and appurtenances whatsoever, to the said bargained premises belonging or in anywise appurtaining and the Reversion and Reversions, Remainder and Remainders, Rents, Issues and profits thereof to have and to hold the said Lot or piece of Land with its appurtenances unto the s'd. Richard Gregory his heirs & assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the s'd. Richard Gregory his heirs and assigns forever.- And the said William Cole and Ann his wife for themselves their heirs Executors and administrators do covenant promise and agree to and with the said Richard Gregory his heirs and assigns that he the said Richard Gregory and his heirs etc. shall and may peaceably and quietly, have, hold, possess and enjoy forever hereafter, the hereby granted premises with the appurtenances without the disturbance or interruption of them the s'd. William Cole and Ann his wife their heirs Executors or administrators, or any other person or persons whatsoever.- And further that the said William Cole and Ann his wife shall and will on the reasonable request of him the said Richard Gregory his heirs or assigns or any or either of them, make and execute all such other and further assurances in the Law for the better securing and conveying the s'd. premises hereby bargained and sold as he the said Richard Gregory his heirs or assigns or his, or their Council Learned in the Law shall require and think necessary and lastly the said William Cole and Ann his wife do covenant promise and agree to and with the said Richard Gregory, that they the said William Cole and Ann his wife and their heirs the aforesaid premises with its appurtenances unto the said Richard Gregory his heirs and assigns against them the said William Cole and Ann his wife and their heirs and assigns and every other person and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever by these presents Defend.- In witness whereof the said William Cole and Ann his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the Day and Year first within written.
