F. Darracott sends copy of his "Railroad Guide for the Great Southern Mail Line" to S. S. Democrat. "Capt. Ben" an encyclopedia of railroads & steamboats. 1857 - July 24th - Petersburg Daily S. S. Democrat 2/5. 1/16 Captain Ben Darracott. This gentleman now in our city is known on every line of Rail Road from New York to New Orleans as the best and most enterprising agent in the United States. He can tell you everything from the best lawyer, Editor and clothing store in every place between the above two cities. He is a perfect traveler’s guide book and has during the last ten years gone over 23,000 miles of road, being thus the greatest inland traveler in the world. You have only to ask Capt.
