PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY VIRGINIA - BURCH NOTES Notes of the late Bernard C Rodenhizer, Jr., contributed by his son, Bernard C Rodenhizer III - Nov. 1997 rodey@kerrlake.com SOME DESCENDANTS OF JOHN BURCH (BIRCH) OF VIRGINIA INTRODUCTION Although there were many members of the Burch family living in the North Carolina counties adjacent to Virginia, it seems more likely that the John Burch of Pittsylvania County is descended from one of the three Burches listed in the Quit Rent Roll of the fourteen Virginia counties that paid their tribute to the King of England in 1704. Henry Burch - King William County 200 acres John Burch - King and Queen County 100 acres Wm. Burch - King and Queen County 100 acres Since the early records of both of these counties have been destroyed by fire, it is impossible to completely document them. AMELIA COUNTY, VA. Haden, wrote in 1976, "John and Jarrett (Burch) went to Henry County (VA). Henry Burch went to Surry County, NC and named his first two sons John and Jarrett". The indexes to the probate records of both Henry and Pittsylvania Counties were searched but nothing was found for John1 Burch, who married Charity Woodson. There must have been children, but the only one we have found, whom we consider to be a child, was John2 Burch, Jr. No M.B. has been found in either Henry or Pittsylvania County for John Burch, Jr. From deeds, we know his wife to be Frances ________.
