The graveyard is located about five miles from the Coleman home on an old road. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1853. The oldest grave [marker]. OWNERS: Stephen Coleman and Daniel Coleman, the original owners. [1936] DESCRIPTION: None. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Tombstone inscriptions follow: In Memory of Col. Stephen Coleman Born 29th August 1779 and Departed this life 2nd January in the 87th year of his age I am the resurrection and the life saith the Lord. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet he live and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. There is Rest in Heaven Mrs. Mary Coleman Consort of Col. Stephen Coleman and daughter of Parmenus and Dorothy Williams was born in Warren County, N.C. on the 18th May 1781 and departed this life 17th Feby. 1862 in the 81st year of her age Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord that they may rest from their labor and their works do follow them. Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Col. Daniel Coleman Born 7th of June 1768 Died 8th day April 1860 His life was spent actively and usefully in his family, neighborhood and County, much of it being devoted to the service of his Country, both in a civil and military capacity. The duties of which he discharged with singular fidelity and efficiency. In Memory of Anna P. Coleman Wife of Col. Daniel Coleman who was born the 1st day of March 1778 and died 1st day Feby. 1858 She was unsurpassed in all the character of a good wife, mother, mistress and neighbor, and in whom it may be truly said, there was no guile. Requiescat in peace. Mrs. Martha C. Walters Born 10th November 1813 and departed this life 14th December 1853 Mourn not for me, ye loved ones dear Although the grave seems dark and dreary, My speechless tongue in Heaven can tell My Jesus has done all things well.
