PITTSYLVANIA CO., VA - CEMETERIES – Crews Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Crews graveyard: 1937 May 27 Research made by Lona Dalton Cemetery Location: 2 miles east of Gretna, Virginia on Route #40, thence 1 mile south of Route #686, thence 2 miles southwest on a farm road. The graveyard is on the east side of the road. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1825. OWNERS: Crew family. DESCRIPTION: This is a small graveyard in a cultivated field. It is surrounded by a three foot brick wall, which is very substantial. It is covered with briars, bushes and vines, and it is very difficult to get through them. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Sacred to the memory of Josiah Crews Born April 1780 Died 6 Sept. 1825 In memory of J. W. P. Crews Born June 18, 1815 Married Mar. 1855 Died Jan. 7, 1884 Age 68 years Resting in hope of a glorious ressurection. Sacred to the memory of Christina M. Crews Born March 1777 Died April 29th, 1841 In memory of Pauline J. Cross wife of J.W.P. Crews Born 4th July 1827 Died 13th Aug. 1863 Preserve me Oh God for in thou do I put my trust.
