PITTSYLVANIA CO., VA - CEMETERIES – Dodson Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Dodson graveyard: 1937 June 3 Research made by Mabel Moses Cemetery Location: 10 miles south of Chatham, Virginia, on Route #29, thence 2 miles east on Route #716, thence 4 miles south on Route #726, thence 2.5 miles east on Route #729. The graveyard is on the south side of the road. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1862. OWNERS: Dodson and the descendants reserved the graveyard. DESCRIPTION: There are quite a number of graves with rock markers, but no names or dates. These, no doubt, are the graves of the earlier owners of this site. However, several nice stones have been erected with names and dates. The graveyard is located in an open field with no fence around it. It is almost grown up with weeds, underbrush, and berry vines. No care is taken of it. There are no flowers or trees. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Albert O. Dodson Born April 6, 1830 Died April 19, 1862 Beloved and Farewell Mary E.
