PITTSYLVANIA CO., VA - CEMETERIES – Jones Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Jones graveyard: 1937 June 21 Research made by Mabel Moses Cemetery Location: 7.3 miles east of Chatham, Virginia, on Route #57, thence north east 1.8 miles on Route #895. The graveyard is on the north side of the road. Pittsylvania Co., Virginia DATE: 1786 OWNERS: Thomas Jones Sr. and his descendants. DESCRIPTION: This graveyard is located on the original site of the old home owned by Thomas Jones Sr. This place was called “Mountain Top”. The graveyard has always been reserved by the Jones family. The original site is at present owned by Jim H. Lewis, but one half acre has been reserved since the graveyard first originated. The graveyard is situated on a high knoll a short distance from the site of the old home, which was burned many years ago. It has a high rock wall around the graves and they are kept in good condition. Several generations are buried in this graveyard. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Thomas Jones Sr. Virginia Lieut.
